London, home for the summer

Gee... where were we?! Our month in Denmark seems SO long ago (and I sit here in Denmark again, writing about London). Ah yes, Samsø (and I'm writing on a Danish keyboard-- it actually has a little 'ø' button. I don't have to use the super secret command). Ah, yes, we flew to London where at the time we were to stay for one month, maybe longer if we changed our plane ticket to remain in Europe, which clearly we did since I'm presently typing on a Danish keyboard.

Django has become quite the seasoned traveler. He's had more than his share of airplanes, trains, buses, and the occasional car. He does quite well with it most of the time.

Coming into London, a vast and vibrant city.

We were hosted for our entire two month stay by Allison, half the driving force of Simon's record label LoMax records (the other half, Bernard was on business in the US for all but the last 2 days of our stay). We had our own room and the flat had a back door that opened onto the shared garden of the 5 building association(about 45 flats). The "garden" might as well have been called a park. It's enormous and was the great saving grace of our stay. Given that Allison works out of a home office, it was extremely helpful to be able to easily step outside and have a play area for Django.

Simon and Django with a car loaned by a neighbor. When we arrived, the grass was quite dry and London parks were unusually brown (but it was so nice and sunny!).

Doing some of the ever abundant computer work in our bedroom.

I know this is a pretty random shot of a half dozen eggs, but they really let you know these are farm fresh, laid by actual chickens!

Fresh foods in general aren't cleaned up quite as much as in the States. Beets and potatoes are caked in dirt, mushrooms often have the long stem with soil still clinging. And as you can see, the eggs are still wearing part of the chicken!

After a couple weeks, I managed to find someone (from a local facebook mom's group) who was giving away a bed, which we desperately needed for Django. Not only was it free, but they delivered it in the rain so we wouldn't have to go by train to pick it up. Here's Django helping mama carry the bits to the bedroom.

Yay! His very own bed.

The 'backyard' after we got a bit of rain.
